Weekly meals for elderly neighbors in Kobe
Hiroto runs a volunteer pantry feeding 86 families; this fund restocks shelves for the summer.

Since 2023, our volunteer team has run Community Pantry every Thursday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 10 families, and now we feed 86 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 57% this summer, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 14 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Kobe market and keep every receipt.
Each $30 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $2,050 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $600
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $740
• Baby formula and diapers: $510
• Refrigeration and electricity: $200

Keep going. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Love from San Jose
So sorry you're going through this. Your post was clear and honest. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Greetings from Pune.
Sending strength, Hiroto. Hope you get there. All the best
