Weekly meals for elderly neighbors in Kinondoni
The the Thursday Table pantry in Kinondoni is running low just as demand rises; $500 will stock it for 11 weeks.

Since 2023, our volunteer team has run the Thursday Table every Thursday from the back of the old library basement. We started with 19 families, and now we feed 389 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 54% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 12 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Kinondoni market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $500 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $240
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $175
• Baby formula and diapers: $55
• Refrigeration and electricity: $30
