Weekly meals for elderly neighbors in Haarlem
The Community Pantry pantry in Haarlem is running low just as demand rises; $3,150 will stock it for 8 weeks.

Since 2023, our volunteer team has run Community Pantry every Thursday from the back of the old library basement. We started with 11 families, and now we feed 208 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 39% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 7 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Haarlem market and keep every receipt.
Each $50 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $3,150 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,800
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $760
• Baby formula and diapers: $270
• Refrigeration and electricity: $320
