Weekly meals for elderly neighbors in Dhaka
Rony runs a volunteer pantry feeding 301 families; this fund restocks shelves for the summer.
🇧🇩 Bangladesh1,242 views
Since 2021, our volunteer team has run the Sunday Shelf every Wednesday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 19 families, and now we feed 301 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 37% this summer, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 6 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Dhaka market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $500 goes:
• Refrigeration and electricity: $25
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $185
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $290
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Rony.
More neighborhoods should do this. Greetings from Bogotá
best of luck, Rony. Hope you get there. My neighbor in Dortmund donated after I showed her your page. All the best.
