Weekly meals for elderly neighbors in Cluj-Napoca
Help keep a free food pantry open for elderly neighbors in Cluj-Napoca.
🇷🇴 RomaniaPosted Sep 19, 20261,079 views
Since 2020, our volunteer team has run Neighbors' Pantry every Saturday from the back of the old library basement. We started with 25 families, and now we feed 328 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 37% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 19 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Cluj-Napoca market and keep every receipt.
Each $20 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $800 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $600
• Refrigeration and electricity: $65
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $135
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

any update on how things are going in Cluj-Napoca?
thanks for sharing this. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Blessings.
Praying for you, Alexandru. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Please keep us posted.
