Weekly meals for elderly neighbors in Chiang Mai

The Open Hands Pantry pantry in Chiang Mai is running low just as demand rises; $650 will stock it for 6 weeks.

Chiang Mai

Since 2019, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Sunday from the back of a community center. We started with 10 families, and now we feed 365 each week. Donations have dropped by about 47% this winter, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 7 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Chiang Mai market and keep every receipt. Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week. I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday. Where the $650 goes: • Baby formula and diapers: $185 • Refrigeration and electricity: $60 • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $405 Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Updates from Mongkol

Good news. Because of your gifts ($280 in total) the plan for refrigeration and electricity is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
