Weekly meals for elderly neighbors in Agra
Rutuja runs a volunteer pantry feeding 283 families; this fund restocks shelves for the winter.
🇮🇳 Agra, Uttar Pradesh, IndiaPosted Oct 1, 2026415 views
Since 2020, our volunteer team has run Neighbors' Pantry every Friday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 25 families, and now we feed 283 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 52% this winter, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 9 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Agra market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $500 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $175
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $180
• Baby formula and diapers: $105
• Refrigeration and electricity: $40
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

Update from Agra: the first invoice got paid this week. We're at 35% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.
