We lost everything in the winter storm: help Eastgate village start over

The winter storm damaged 53 homes in Eastgate village. We're raising funds for repairs, supplies and temporary shelter.

The winter storm hit Eastgate village on 14 November. My home was one of 53 damaged, and 14 families are still in temporary shelter at the community hall. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters. Where the $4,800 goes: โ€ข Food parcels for displaced families: $670 โ€ข Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $1,450 โ€ข Roofing sheets and timber: $2,680 With deep gratitude, Noah

Updates from Noah

  1. Good news. Because of your gifts ($562 in total) the first invoice got paid this week. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  2. Wanted to say thank you properly. 9% funded and I made the first payment toward roofing sheets and timber.

hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected

Sending strength, Noah. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Don't be hard on yourself for asking.
