We lost everything in the wildfire: help the Orchard district start over
The wildfire damaged 70 homes in the Orchard district. We're raising funds for repairs, supplies and temporary shelter.

The wildfire hit the Orchard district on 18 July. My home was one of 70 damaged, and 9 families are still in temporary shelter at the community hall.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters.
Where the $2,300 goes:
• Roofing sheets and timber: $1,150
• Clean water and purification supplies: $160
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $140
• Food parcels for displaced families: $490
• Tools and labor for repairs: $360
Thank you so much.

wishing you the best. Shared it with a few friends. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it
thinking of you and your family. Great idea, hope you get there. I'll check back for the next update. Take care.
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Elif.
The list at the bottom is the whole picture. roofing sheets and timber is the biggest at $1,150. Ask me anything else.
Sending love, Elif. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected.
You're not alone, Elif. Shared it with a few friends. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. All the best.
Thanks for sharing this, Elif. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. My cousin had a similar thing happen so this one hit home.
Sending good thoughts, Elif. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. All the best
