We lost everything in the wildfire: help the Eastgate settlement start over
The wildfire damaged 23 homes in the Eastgate settlement. We're raising funds for repairs, supplies and temporary shelter.

The wildfire hit the Eastgate settlement on 8 August. My home was one of 23 damaged, and 5 families are still in temporary shelter at a borrowed warehouse.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters.
Where the $1,200 goes:
• Food parcels for displaced families: $300
• Clean water and purification supplies: $260
• Roofing sheets and timber: $640
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Keep going, Deniz. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did.
How is Deniz doing now?
Rooting for you, Deniz. More neighborhoods should do this. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day.
Take care. Looking forward to the next update
a colleague of mine might know someone for this in Istanbul. I'll ask around and let you know.
