The storm hit the Eastgate district on 28 July. My home was one of 62 damaged, and 3 families are still in temporary shelter at a borrowed warehouse. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates. Where the $5,150 goes: • Roofing sheets and timber: $2,150 • Clean water and purification supplies: $360 • Tools and labor for repairs: $1,100 • Food parcels for displaced families: $1,540 Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

  • Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Mick.

It's all in the list in the story. roofing sheets and timber is the big one at $2,150, I'll post a receipt when it's paid. Thanks for asking.

  • Thanks for sharing this. It takes guts to ask. Well done. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.

    • Best of luck. More neighborhoods should do this. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Thinking of Kilkenny.

      • Take care, Mick. Shared this with my family

You're not alone. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Put this on a community board in Boulogne-Billancourt this morning. Love from Boulogne-Billancourt
