The landslide hit the families of Millbrook Lane on 23 July. My home was one of 38 damaged, and 7 families are still in temporary shelter at a mosque and church hall. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates. Where the $1,250 goes: • Clean water and purification supplies: $190 • Roofing sheets and timber: $700 • Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $155 • Food parcels for displaced families: $205 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Updates from Akinyi

  1. Good news. Because of your gifts ($426 in total) I met with the suppliers and confirmed the amounts. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  2. Update from Kasarani: the first invoice got paid this week. We're at 11% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.
