The house fire that spread across the block hit the families of Eastgate Lane on 19 July. My home was one of 82 damaged, and 6 families are still in temporary shelter at the sports club.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates.
Where the $700 goes:
• Tools and labor for repairs: $290
• Roofing sheets and timber: $340
• Clean water and purification supplies: $70
Thanks for reading all this.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Javeria.
Tools and labor for repairs is $290 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Good question.
Stay strong. Hope you get there. We're a small family in Pune but we're thinking of you.
So sorry you're going through this, Javeria. More neighborhoods should do this. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Greetings from Saint-Denis!
