We lost everything in the heatwave: help Harbor village start over
After the heatwave, families in Harbor village need clean water, roofing materials and bedding.
🇮🇳 Maharashtra, India793 views
The heatwave hit Harbor village on 8 June. My home was one of 12 damaged, and 2 families are still in temporary shelter at the sports club.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates.
Where the $1,050 goes:
• Roofing sheets and timber: $290
• Clean water and purification supplies: $170
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $155
• Food parcels for displaced families: $100
• Tools and labor for repairs: $335
Glad we found this place.

stay strong, Shailesh. Hope you get there. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Take care.
Sending good thoughts. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Wish I lived closer to Rochester so I could bring a meal. God bless.
You're not alone. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My husband and I read this together. Love from Tokyo
Hope things get better soon, Shailesh. More neighborhoods should do this. Thinking of Mumbai.
It takes guts to ask. Well done. My neighbor in Accra donated after I showed her your page. Blessings
