We lost everything in the flood: help the Marketplace settlement start over
Neighbors in the Marketplace settlement are rebuilding after the flood; every contribution goes to materials and supplies.
🇮🇳 India1,445 views
The flood hit the Marketplace settlement on 9 October. My home was one of 63 damaged, and 5 families are still in temporary shelter at the community hall.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• Roofing sheets and timber: $550
• Food parcels for displaced families: $270
• Tools and labor for repairs: $180
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

is there anything that isn't money that would help Pradeep?
Thank you. If you're in Nizamabad I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. It helps to be asked.
Wishing you peace, Pradeep. Hope you get there. All the best.
Hope it all works out, Pradeep. More neighborhoods should do this. Take care.
Rooting for you, Pradeep. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Love from Berlin.
Wishing you the best. This could happen to any of us. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
I hope things turn around soon. We're a small family in Makati but we're thinking of you. Blessings.
rooting for you, Pradeep. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Love from Savar
hang in there. Shared it with a few friends. Greetings from Arlington
Rooting for you, Pradeep. It takes guts to ask. Well done. I went through something like this 5 years ago and strangers helped me out.
Hang in there, Pradeep. Gave what I could, wish it was more. I hope December is when things finally get easier. All the best.
Sending strength. Your post was clear and honest. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. God bless!
Wishing you peace. Great idea, hope you get there. Don't give up. Take care.
sending strength, Pradeep. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. After 16 years in engineering I know how hard it is to ask for anything
thinking of you and your family, Pradeep. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Wish I lived closer to Kasarani so I could bring a meal. Thinking of Nizamabad.
