We lost everything in the flash flood: help the Old Town neighborhood start over
The flash flood damaged 48 homes in the Old Town neighborhood. We're raising funds for repairs, supplies and temporary shelter.

The flash flood hit the Old Town neighborhood on 10 September. My home was one of 48 damaged, and 4 families are still in temporary shelter at a borrowed warehouse.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters.
Where the $5,650 goes:
• Roofing sheets and timber: $1,900
• Clean water and purification supplies: $980
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $870
• Food parcels for displaced families: $870
• Tools and labor for repairs: $1,030
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. roofing sheets and timber comes first ($1,900) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Fair thing to want to know.
