We lost everything in the flash flood: help the Hillcrest settlement start over
After the flash flood, families in the Hillcrest settlement need clean water, roofing materials and bedding.

The flash flood hit the Hillcrest settlement on 20 August. My home was one of 72 damaged, and 5 families are still in temporary shelter at the community hall.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates.
Where the $5,000 goes:
• Food parcels for displaced families: $1,050
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $1,100
• Roofing sheets and timber: $1,750
• Clean water and purification supplies: $1,100
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

So sorry you're going through this. I hope things turn around soon. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Blessings.
take care, Amit. Your post was clear and honest. Blessings.
Hang in there. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Thinking of Reading.
