The flash flood hit Northside village on 18 September. My home was one of 64 damaged, and 2 families are still in temporary shelter at the local school gym. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters. Where the $8,850 goes: • Roofing sheets and timber: $3,850 • Clean water and purification supplies: $390 • Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $1,650 • Food parcels for displaced families: $2,200 • Tools and labor for repairs: $760 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

what's already covered and what's the $8,850 for?

          • Abril K. RomeroOwnerAnswer

Sure. The biggest one is roofing sheets and timber, $3,850. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one.

        • Good luck, Abril. Your post was clear and honest. Love from Üsküdar.

          • Wishing you the best. Looking forward to the next update. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like.

            • Shared this with my family. My mother had a similar thing happen so this one hit home.

              • Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. After 12 years in accounting I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Love from San Francisco.

                • Great idea, hope you get there. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Thinking of San Diego.
