We lost everything in the fire in the market: help the Hillcrest neighborhood start over
Neighbors in the Hillcrest neighborhood are rebuilding after the fire in the market; every contribution goes to materials and supplies.

The fire in the market hit the Hillcrest neighborhood on 20 April. My home was one of 47 damaged, and 2 families are still in temporary shelter at the community hall.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• Tools and labor for repairs: $155
• Food parcels for displaced families: $170
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $125
• Roofing sheets and timber: $550
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

More neighborhoods should do this. Love from Mérida
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Karanja.
The list at the bottom is the whole picture. tools and labor for repairs is the biggest at $155. Appreciate you taking the time.
More neighborhoods should do this. Put this on a community board in Ankara this morning
Sending good thoughts, Karanja. Shared it with a few friends. After 6 years in farming I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Greetings from Giza!
Sending good thoughts. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Thinking of Zanzibar City.
Hope things get better soon. Shared it with a few friends. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. All the best
keep going. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer
Wishing you the best. Your post was clear and honest. Blessings!
Praying for you. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Thinking of Zanzibar City.
