We lost everything in the fire: help the Lakeview district start over

The fire hit the Lakeview district on 26 July. My home was one of 68 damaged, and 10 families are still in temporary shelter at the local school gym. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates. Where the $950 goes: • Tools and labor for repairs: $270 • Food parcels for displaced families: $340 • Clean water and purification supplies: $100 • Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $240 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support. - Oksana

      Sure. The biggest one is tools and labor for repairs, $270. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Good question.
