We lost everything in the erosion collapse: help the Old Town district start over
Neighbors in the Old Town district are rebuilding after the erosion collapse; every contribution goes to materials and supplies.

The erosion collapse hit the Old Town district on 27 May. My home was one of 20 damaged, and 3 families are still in temporary shelter at the sports club.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• Roofing sheets and timber: $640
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $100
• Tools and labor for repairs: $105
• Food parcels for displaced families: $155
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Rooting for you, Seyi. It takes guts to ask. Well done.
Sending good thoughts. More neighborhoods should do this. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
Keep going. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Greetings from Mombasa!

Sending good thoughts, Seyi. Your post was clear and honest. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money.

you're not alone, Seyi. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Put this on a community board in Çankaya this morning. Take care
