We lost everything in the cyclone: help the families of Marketplace Lane start over

After the cyclone, families in the families of Marketplace Lane need clean water, roofing materials and bedding.

The cyclone hit the families of Marketplace Lane on 21 June. My home was one of 12 damaged, and 7 families are still in temporary shelter at a mosque and church hall. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates. Where the $750 goes: • Clean water and purification supplies: $115 • Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $70 • Roofing sheets and timber: $565 I hope life is good to you. - Venkat

Updates from Venkat

  1. We're at 43% thanks to 9 of you. I made the first payment toward bedding, blankets and mattresses. More news soon.

  2. Good news. Because of your gifts ($169 in total) I made the first payment toward roofing sheets and timber. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
