Water shut-off notice: help Mateus pay $250

Mateus is behind on water bills after losing my job in May and needs $250 to avoid a shut-off.

The water account is 3 months behind. Mateus received a disconnection notice that says service will be cut off on August unless $250 is paid. He had never been late before losing my job in May. Mateus called the provider and asked about a payment plan, but they need a down payment of $30 first, which isn't available. The household includes a disabled brother, and going through summer without water isn't safe. We would also lose the ability to run the medical equipment at home. Mateus is working on getting back on his feet, and wants to pay it forward once steady. The money will go directly to the utility provider, and I'll post the paid statement here. Where the $250 goes: • Heating arrears: $90 • Reconnection and late fees: $55 • Down payment on a payment plan: $105 Thank you for reading my story. - Manuela
