I coordinate donations at Unity Women's Shelter in London. Every year around this time we hear from families who have nothing warm for their children, and this year demand has more than doubled. We're collecting clean, gently used or new coats, boots, hats, gloves and scarves in sizes 4-12. If you're in London, we can arrange a pick-up or you can drop things at Unity Women's Shelter on Wednesday between 10am and 2pm. If you're elsewhere, you may offer to sponsor a coat through a local shop - message in the comments and we can coordinate. Items go to families directly and the rest to the Unity Women's Shelter clothing bank, which is open to everyone. Thank you so much.

  • Hope it all works out. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Love from Leeds

    • A secure home matters so much. Hope you're settled soon. After 15 years in public service I know how hard it is to ask for anything. Love from Gothenburg.

      • Best of luck. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Love from Abuja.

        • Hang in there, Skylar. Shared this with my family. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. All the best.

          • Thinking of you and your family. A secure home matters so much. Hope you're settled soon. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like.

            • Keep going, Skylar. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Greetings from São Paulo.

              • Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. My husband and I read this together.
