I coordinate donations at the Acacia Primary School in Nairobi. Every year around this time we hear from families who have nothing warm for their children, and this year demand has more than doubled. We're collecting clean, gently used or new coats, boots, hats, gloves and scarves in sizes 2 to 14 years. If you're in Nairobi, we can arrange a pick-up or you can drop things at the Acacia Primary School on Thursday between 11am and 2pm. If you're elsewhere, you may offer to sponsor a coat through a local shop - message in the comments and we can coordinate. Items go to families directly and the rest to the the Acacia Primary School clothing bank, which is open to everyone. I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

I was going through a tough time and this person's support was invaluable. They didn't judge, just helped. That kind of genuine compassion is rare these days.

  • sending love, Waweru. It takes guts to ask. Well done. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like.

    • Rooting for you, Waweru. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I went through something like this 10 years ago and strangers helped me out. Take care

      • Hope you get there. Thinking of Nairobi.

        • Shared this with my family. Love from Londrina!
