Wanjiru's stomach cancer treatment fund
Wanjiru is facing stomach cancer and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

Wanjiru was diagnosed with stomach cancer in January. The oncology team at Kinondoni Cancer Centre has planned 4 rounds of treatment, starting in March. She will be away from work for about 7 weeks.
Wanjiru is 58, worked as a cleaner at a hospital until January, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Kinondoni Cancer Centre 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes.
Where the $1,700 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,100
• Scans and lab work: $140
• Transport to Kinondoni Cancer Centre: $50
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $110
• Household costs while unable to work: $300
