Walid was diagnosed with a hip fracture that never healed properly in June. The surgeon at Shubra Regional Medical Center recommended laparoscopic cyst removal, and He is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,100, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $650 short.
my husband has been in and out of Shubra Regional Medical Center since June. The doctors say a hip fracture that never healed properly will get worse without laparoscopic cyst removal. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,100 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Walid struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Walid won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did.
Where the $650 goes:
• Travel and lodging for the family: $25
• Hospital stay (5 nights): $500
• Post-operative medication: $50
• Physiotherapy sessions: $75
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Updates from Malak
Good news. Because of your gifts ($260 in total) I met with the hospital and confirmed the amounts. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

Hope things get better soon. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. Sent it to 35 people at work. God bless.
Stay strong, Malak. I hope things turn around soon. After 24 years in hospitality I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Take care
Thinking of you, Malak. Hope you get there. Take care.
Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Put this on a community board in Toronto this morning. Blessings
