Lucas is facing a wage-theft claim. The hearing is scheduled for November, and the filing fees and the lawyer's retainer come to $650. Three legal-aid offices have said their waiting lists are longer than the deadline.
Lucas has all the paperwork ready, and a caseworker at Rio de Janeiro Welcome Centre has confirmed that the case is valid.
If the deadline is missed Lucas could lose the right to stay with the family and the job. The children were born here and this is the only home they know.
Funds cover only the filing fees, translations and attorney retainer.
Where the $650 goes:
• Certified translations and document copies: $70
• Filing and biometrics fees: $145
• Attorney retainer: $435
Thank you so much.

Hope it all works out. Hope this works out for you. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Thinking of Rio de Janeiro
Sending good thoughts, Larissa. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Take care
You're not alone, Larissa. This could happen to any of us. Wish I lived closer to Narayanganj so I could bring a meal. Greetings from Wudil.
Hope it all works out, Larissa. It takes guts to ask. Well done. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry.
So sorry you're going through this, Larissa. This could happen to any of us. Take care
I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. We're a small family in Dublin but we're thinking of you.
