The roof at Otieno's home is failing; materials are donated and we need hands.

I'm a school janitor living in Nairobi. During the last storm water started coming through the ceiling in 4 places, and the bathroom is no longer usable. A roofer quoted $950, which isn't something I can pay. The good news: a local hardware store has donated the shingles and underlay. What I don't have is people to do the work. I'm looking for 4-6 people who can help over a weekend. Experience helps, but it isn't essential - I'll have a licensed roofer supervising for safety. All you need is to be comfortable with heights or willing to help from the ground. I'll provide lunch, water and lots of thanks. The work will be done on the ground and roof with proper harnesses. If you can only help for a few hours, that's welcome too. Glad we found this place.

  • Stay strong. This could happen to any of us. I'm in accounting myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you

    • keep going. This could happen to any of us. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Blessings.

      • Thinking of you, Otieno. I hope your landlord gives you a bit more time while this comes together. I went through something like this 8 years ago and strangers helped me out. Thinking of Nairobi

        • Best of luck, Otieno. Shared this with my family. All the best.

          • This could happen to any of us. After 30 years in teaching I know how hard it's to ask for anything. God bless
