Vivian's hip replacement surgery can't wait - please help us cover the bill

A scheduled hip replacement surgery in July is out of reach without help covering $3,450 of the cost.

In April I was diagnosed with a deviated septum causing chronic infections. My surgeon at San Jose Orthopedic Institute recommended hip replacement surgery, and I have been placed on the schedule for July. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $5,750, and after what my insurance will pay, I'm still $3,450 short. Doctors at San Jose Orthopedic Institute told me a deviated septum causing chronic infections will get worse without hip replacement surgery. I work as a call-centre agent, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $5,750 is far beyond what I've. Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a call-centre agent have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk. The recovery period is expected to take about 4 weeks. I'll not be able to stand for more than ten minutes during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $3,450 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $2,550 • Physiotherapy sessions: $380 • Post-operative medication: $170 • Travel and lodging for the family: $350 Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.
