Violet's knee replacement surgery can't wait - please help us cover the bill
After a hip fracture that never healed properly, Violet was cleared for knee replacement surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Violet was diagnosed with a hip fracture that never healed properly in August. The surgeon at Birmingham Regional Medical Center recommended knee replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,500, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $1,250 short.
my mother has been in and out of Birmingham Regional Medical Center since August. The doctors say a hip fracture that never healed properly will get worse without knee replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,500 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Violet struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Violet won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $1,250 goes:
• Physiotherapy sessions: $340
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $410
• Travel and lodging for the family: $270
• Post-operative medication: $230
