Veteran in need: Kioko's next mission is stability
Kioko served ten years in the navy; $300 would cover a trained service dog and handler course.
🇰🇪 Nairobi, Kenya482 views
Florence served ten years in the navy and was discharged in 2023 with a service-related knee injury. She has been waiting nine months for support, and meanwhile is sleeping at a brother's place.
The plan: a trained service dog and handler course. The quote comes to $300.
Florence is receiving counseling through the veterans' clinic and is committed to recovery. Structure and a stable place to live are the missing pieces.
I'll post invoices, with personal details hidden.
Where the $300 goes:
• Housing deposit and first month: $210
• Transport to appointments: $40
• Essential household items: $50
Every share and every dollar helps.

You're not alone, Kioko. Hope this works out for you.
Gave what I could, wish it was more. Love from Los Angeles.
Sending good thoughts. Shared it with a few friends. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Thinking of Kasarani.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Florence.
Housing deposit and first month is $210 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Thanks, that means a lot.
Thanks for sharing this, Kioko. Shared it with a few friends. Take care.
Thanks for sharing this, Kioko. This could happen to any of us. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Thinking of Kasarani
Hang in there, Kioko. Hope this works out for you. God bless
take care. Hope this works out for you. Sent it to 30 people at work.
Good luck, Kioko. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day.
Sending good thoughts, Kioko. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. After 13 years in customer support I know how hard it's to ask for anything
