Valve repair surgery for Majid: covering what insurance won't
A scheduled valve repair surgery in November is out of reach without help covering $850 of the cost.

Majid was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule that needs removal in August. The surgeon at Shubra University Hospital recommended valve repair surgery, and He is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,150, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $850 short.
my son has been in and out of Shubra University Hospital since August. The doctors say a thyroid nodule that needs removal will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,150 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Majid struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 6 weeks. During that time Majid won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $850 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $320
• Hospital stay (4 nights): $460
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $70
