Valve repair surgery for Juliet: covering what insurance won't
A scheduled valve repair surgery in August is out of reach without help covering $650 of the cost.

Juliet was diagnosed with a hernia that has become strangulated in May. The surgeon at Lagos Regional Medical Center recommended valve repair surgery, and She is scheduled for August. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $810, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $650 short.
my mother has been in and out of Lagos Regional Medical Center since May. The doctors say a hernia that has become strangulated will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $810 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Juliet struggles with daily life and can't drive. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Juliet won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $650 goes:
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $75
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $410
• Travel and lodging for the family: $70
• Post-operative medication: $35
• Physiotherapy sessions: $60
