Jin-ah was diagnosed with a herniated spinal disc in April. The surgeon at Saint Elizabeth Hospital recommended valve repair surgery, and She is scheduled for July. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $4,950, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $3,950 short. my daughter has been in and out of Saint Elizabeth Hospital since April. The doctors say a herniated spinal disc will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $4,950 is more than we can find. While we wait, Jin-ah struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time Jin-ah won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
