Valve repair surgery for Gabriel: covering what insurance won't
A scheduled valve repair surgery in May is out of reach without help covering $1,600 of the cost.

Gabriel was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule that needs removal in January. The surgeon at Palmira General Hospital recommended valve repair surgery, and He is scheduled for May. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,000, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $1,600 short.
my father has been in and out of Palmira General Hospital since January. The doctors say a thyroid nodule that needs removal will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,000 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Gabriel struggles with daily life and can't drive. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Gabriel won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
