Andrei was diagnosed with a hip fracture that never healed properly in June. The surgeon at Saint Petersburg Regional Medical Center recommended valve repair surgery, and He is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,550, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $2,050 short.
my husband has been in and out of Saint Petersburg Regional Medical Center since June. The doctors say a hip fracture that never healed properly will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,550 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Andrei struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Andrei won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
