We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a community fridge - we need $600 for materials.

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 14 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Unity Park, but no funding. We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $200, and the remaining cost is $600. It will serve about 442 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $600 goes: • Materials: $450 • Permits and inspections: $60 • Safety equipment and signage: $40 • Tools hire and delivery: $50 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself. - Cris

It's all in the list in the story. materials is the big one at $450, I'll post a receipt when it's paid. Happy to explain more.

      • Hope things get better soon, Cris. Gave what I could, wish it was more. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. God bless.

        • Sending good thoughts. Shared it with a few friends. I'm in retail myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Thinking of Cebu City.
