Union Primary School needs a sensory garden for children with autism - Eli's neighborhood project
A community-led a sensory garden for children with autism at Union Primary School that will serve 355 neighbors.

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 21 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Union Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $440, and the remaining cost is $800.
It will serve about 355 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $800 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $310
• Tools hire and delivery: $160
• Safety equipment and signage: $330
