For three years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 30 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Union Primary School, but no funding. We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $1,050, and the remaining cost is $2,300. It will serve about 539 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in February and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $2,300 goes: • Materials: $1,250 • Permits and inspections: $220 • Safety equipment and signage: $350 • Tools hire and delivery: $480 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to. - Dominique
