Union Primary School needs a free library and reading room - Cynthia's neighborhood project
Volunteers in Detroit are raising $2,800 for a free library and reading room at Union Primary School.

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 26 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Union Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $2,800.
It will serve about 81 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.

• Safety equipment and signage: $520
• Tools hire and delivery: $165
