Union Park needs a solar-powered water pump - Maverick's neighborhood project
A community-led a solar-powered water pump at Union Park that will serve 106 neighbors.
🇨🇦 London, Ontario, Canada2,213 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 8 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Union Park, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $3,050.
It will serve about 106 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $3,050 goes:
• Materials: $2,150
• Permits and inspections: $140
• Safety equipment and signage: $460
• Tools hire and delivery: $300
Every share and every dollar helps.
