Tuition fund for Sebastião: a computer science degree at Santarém University
A first-generation student, Sebastião needs help covering tuition for the final stretch of a computer science degree.
🇧🇷 Santarém, Pará, Brazil1,190 views
Sebastião is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying a computer science degree at Santarém University, and is two terms away from graduating. He has worked as a warehouse packer to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $1,600.
The registrar has said Sebastião can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Sebastião has a 3.8 average, and a department head has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Sebastião would lose his place and scholarship eligibility.
Sebastião isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
Where the $1,600 goes:
• Final term tuition: $1,100
• Outstanding tuition balance: $410
• Exam and lab fees: $90

Keep going, Débora. Gave what I could, wish it was more. After 20 years in farming I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Take care
Thinking of you and your family, Débora. Shared it with a few friends. Thinking of Santarém.
