Manuela is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a diploma in hospitality management at the Santos Institute of Technology, and is two terms away from graduating. She has worked as a night-shift cleaner to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $1,600.
The registrar has said Manuela can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Manuela has a 3.8 average, and a professor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Manuela would lose her place and scholarship eligibility.
Manuela isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
