Laura is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying an electrical engineering diploma at the Ciudad de México Institute of Technology, and is one term away from graduating. She has worked as a shop assistant to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $1,750. The registrar has said Laura can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Laura has a 3.9 average, and an academic advisor has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Laura would lose her place and scholarship eligibility. Laura isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student. The payment will go directly to the the Ciudad de México Institute of Technology bursar's office. I'll post the receipt. Where the $1,750 goes: • Outstanding tuition balance: $800 • Exam and lab fees: $100 • Final term tuition: $850 Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure. - Emilio

Updates from Emilio

  1. Good news. Because of your gifts ($678 in total) I made the first payment toward exam and lab fees. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  2. Wanted to say thank you properly. 12% funded and we've started the first stage.

  3. Quick update: $193 raised so far (11%). I met with the university and confirmed the amounts. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.
