Kariuki is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying an electrical engineering diploma at Mbale Community College, and is one semester away from graduating. He has worked as a shop assistant to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $250.
The registrar has said Kariuki can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Kariuki has a 3.9 average, and a department head has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Kariuki would lose his place and scholarship eligibility.
Kariuki isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
Where the $250 goes:
• Textbooks and materials: $45
• Outstanding tuition balance: $155
• Exam and lab fees: $50
Every share and every dollar helps.

Thinking of you, Wanjiru. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. God bless
Hope it all works out, Wanjiru. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Love from Epe.
