Carolina is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a nursing degree at Olinda State College, and is one semester away from graduating. She has worked as a library assistant to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $1,550.
The registrar has said Carolina can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Carolina has a 3.8 average, and an academic advisor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Carolina would lose her place and scholarship eligibility.
Carolina isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
Where the $1,550 goes:
• Outstanding tuition balance: $290
• Exam and lab fees: $85
• Final term tuition: $1,175
Glad we found this place.
