I'm the first person in my family to go to university. I'm studying a master's in public health at Cairo State College, and I'm two terms away from graduating. I have worked as a delivery rider to pay my way, but this term my hours were cut and I have an unpaid balance of $550.
The registrar has told me I can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. I have a 3.9 average, and my department head has written in support of my application for a payment plan.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support my younger siblings. Without enrolling this term I'd lose my place and my scholarship eligibility.
I'm not asking for a handout - I want to finish what I started and then help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the Cairo State College bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
Where the $550 goes:
• Exam and lab fees: $35
• Final term tuition: $510
• Textbooks and materials: $5
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Praying for you, Basma. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Take care.
