Aldo is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying a teaching qualification at Rome Polytechnic, and is two terms away from graduating. He has worked as a tutor to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $4,200.
The registrar has said Aldo can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Aldo has a first-class average, and a department head has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Aldo would lose his place and scholarship eligibility.
Aldo isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
Where the $4,200 goes:
• Outstanding tuition balance: $1,900
• Final term tuition: $2,050
• Exam and lab fees: $55
• Textbooks and materials: $195
