Tracey was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer in May. The oncology team at George Cancer Centre has planned 4 rounds of treatment, starting in July. She will be away from work for about 10 weeks.
Tracey is 37, worked as a bus conductor until May, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to George Cancer Centre 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $2,450 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,750
• Transport to George Cancer Centre: $135
• Household costs while unable to work: $460
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $105
